Opening Times for visits:

Open: Mid June-Mid September Access: By car on mountain road; by public transport from Sion use the Theytaz bus line; by cable car from base to top of the dam is available as soon as the road opens – it runs from 10 am-5 pm in Spring (with 1 hr break for lunch); Autumn – 10 am-5 pm (no break) & from 9.35 am-6.15 pm in summer. This Dam is in an extraordinary position at a height of 2365m bringing the water level close to the peaks of the highest mountains in the region. The structure is 285m tall and spans 700m across from one mountain to another. It pumps out 2 billion kWh of power per year – enough electricity to power the equivalent of 500,000 homes.

You can fully experience this dam as follows:

  • Exhibition on the history of the dam
  • Possibility to walk across the ridge of the dam structure.
  • Guided Tours ( 4 per day – 11.30am, 1.30pm, 3pm, 4.30pm)
  • Zipline across the top part of the dam’s wall
  • Visit the inside of the wall
